NSN
NATO Stock Number
Een NATO Stock Number (NAVO-voorraadnummer, NSN) of een National Stock Number (zoals het in de VS bekend is), is een 13-cijferige code voor alle ‘gestandaardiseerde materiële artikelen’.
De nummers worden toegewezen volgens het NATO Codification System (NCS). De uitvoering ligt bij het Codification Allied Committee 135 (AC/135).
Het NCS is gebaseerd op de NATO-Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 3150 (Uniform System of Supply Classification) en 3151 (Uniform System of Item Identification).
Overeenkomstig de NAVO-normalisatieovereenkomsten wordt het NSN in alle verdragslanden gebruikt. Veel landen die het NSN-nummering gebruiken, zijn echter geen lid van de NAVO (bijvoorbeeld Japan, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland).
Opmaak
Het NSN is een 13-cijferig nummer en is verdeeld in 3 delen:
- De eerste 4 cijfers zijn de NATO Supply Classification Code.
Deze code heeft de hoofdgroep aan van het product. - De volgende 2 cijfers geven de landcode aan (officieel de code van het aangesloten ‘National Codification
Bureau’). Zie verderop. - De overige cijfers zijn een volgnummer van het product en hebben geen betekenis.
- De code vanaf het landnummer is het NATO Item Identification Number (NIIN).
